Hopland Research and Extension Center

Painting:  Oak Portrait, 18 x 24, oil
Beginning my journey of painting and photographing California native oaks I started at the Hopland Research and Extension Center (University of California) in Hopland California.  Thanks to the Director, Kimberly Rodrigues, I was able to tour much of the 5000+ acres of oak woodlands on the Center's property.  The property includes 12 species of native oaks as well as other plants and animals that live and flourish among the oaks.  This is a painting of a closeup of one of their beautiful oak specimens.

  1. What a gorgeous painting Kathy! That is a Hopland oak for sure - I feel like having that picture on your wall could transport you here whenever you needed.
